We bring you a hefty slab of marbled Colston Bassett Stilton; one of the best, still hand made in Nottingham and punching those tastebuds with its sweet and salty notes… and then its perfect partner, these guys met long before Tinder, and it shows.  The sweetness to the tart; a 35cl bottle of L.B.V. Port 2016 by Niepoort.  This is the stuff! Beautiful deep ruby violet coloured with hints of peppery spice, cherry and dark chocolate on the nose. On the palate, full-bodied with firm tanins whilst still elegant and smooth. This combination is guaranteed to bring a smile to anyone’s lips.

The perfect vehicle to steer this crumbly Stilton where its needed? We’ve have added a delicious box of  Fionagh’s Sourdough Crackers and round it all off with our complementary ‘L’affinage Fig & Pinot Noir Chutney’. Light the fire, dim the lights, don the slippers and relax.

A pretty, deep ruby/violet colour, it has a complex aroma where red fruit notes are predominant, reminiscent of cherries and spices, with a peppery touch. A hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, it is greatly concentrated and full-bodied with firm tannins which at the same time are elegant and smooth.  The great acidity provides freshness and balance to the wine. The finish is long and pleasant. This LBV is ready to be enjoyed and will become more complex by extending ageing for a couple of decades.

Fionagh's 'Original' Sourdough Crackers

Each batch is handmade using their own sourdough mother which is specifically fed and fermented to create the perfect punch and crunch. The mother is mixed with the finest rye flour, rapeseed oil and a little sea salt to achieve the perfect texture and taste. It's then rolled and sprinkled with rye before baking.

Baked until crisp and golden, they are the natural choice for smoked salmon, cheese or pâté.
