‘Fundamental Four’

What ho, what ho!

Sit back, flick on the old gramophone, perhaps a little Charles Trenet, and spoil yourself rotten with four of our classical favourites.

Pitchfork Cheddar from the Trethowan Brothers – A cheddar of great provenance; cloth bound with a traditional farmy bite.

Donge Brie de Meaux – Unapologetically French; creamy, oozy with the recognisable brassica woof!

Colston Bassett Stilton – Made lovingly, by hand, in Nottingham in the traditional way.  A beautiful mosaic of blue.  Salty, crumbly with subtle mushroom notes from the rind.

Langres – From the Champagne region, washed two year aged ‘eau de vie’ to give a creamy pungent treat of a cheese.

It doesn’t get better than that surely?  Well, actually, it does! The ‘Fundamental Four’ comes with FREE DELIVERY.

Pitchfork Cheddar by the Trethowan Brothers

This exceptional cheddar has a dense, creamy texture and is distinguished by its full-bodied flavour with a succulent and lactic bite.  A grown up cheddar for a discerning palate; its subtle complexity deserves time to develop in the mouth, giving of hints of toasted seeds, fruit and drifts of autumn leaves.

250g

Donge Brie De Meaux

Soft white bloomy rind around a deliciously creamy centre. Warm mushroomy overtones with a nutty sweetness like fresh hazelnuts from the tree.

250g

Colston Bassett Stilton

Both sweet and salty in perfect balance with a brilliance of blue veining running right through to its crumbly core.

250g

Langres

The miniature supermodel of cheeses with it’s sunken dimple (created by not turning the cheese in its early affinage). Russet hued and washed lovingly in Marc de Bourgogne, it’s paste is soft, rich and spicy. If you’re feeling decadent and let’s face it life is too short not to – fill the dimple with Champagne and enjoy. Or why try a nice ‘farmy’ cider for some real flavour.
